Being a musician you are always asked - “What Kind of music do you play?” or “What song best represents you?”
Well we are more than “just a band” and the scope of our songs makes it too difficult to narrow down to just one.
So now when people ask, I can point them to the - “E”xperience that this video suggests. If you are a friend, family, or a “Commissioner” I ask that you comment and share the video as it represents the culmination of hours of sweat and tears. It represents the passion, ambition, and dreams of my closest friends and family. It is my life in 6 minutes.
#TheRollingStones weren’t the first to #cover - “Time Is On My Side”. In fact there is a really bad ass version by #IrmaThomas that you should check out!
Our cover version is a much more stripped down version of the classic. It’s sung and played by the Energy Commission’s Danielle Cales on our trademark “pink ukuklele”. The song was recently licensed by Austria’s leading telecom provider for a heartwarming ad that reminds us true friendship never ends. Check it out here - http://youtu.be/JljZpA4wrZ0
The music video was shot primarily in #Chicago at iconic locations like the #MagnificentMile and behind #theAlley store on N Clarke. We shot it here because it’s our home sweet home. It’s where we’ve seen the band grow from no name clubs to headlining the #HouseofBlues. The video actually has some very old footage cut in and will probably be very sentimental for those who’ve seen us grow over the years. The time that’s passed is evident when you see the Frances (Jay and Danielle’s little #Pomeranian) as a #cute little #puppy.
The song is available on iTune as a single. Or you can get it along with 2 other songs from our unreleased album, by pre-ordering now.
Thank you to all of our #Commissioners, friends, families, and creative partners along the way.
When “give up” isn’t in your vocabulary, then Time is definitely on your side!
It’s about fucking time! #catstevens #rockandroll #halloffame
It’s a surreal feeling. Cat has been a star by which I’ve charted my course as a musician. I discovered him for myself early in 2000 and realized his importance immediately. Not just as a musician, but as a light for our world. He is a prime example of the convergence of art and life. He breathed an honest search and conviction into his music and then lived out the answer he found.
He had already out the guitar down for nearly 20 years by time I stumbled upon his genius. Once I did, I always had a vision for him to resurge. To know that the world needs his voice. In an idealistic time I envisioned myself doing a song with Cat.
Now after having records steamrolled in the street to singing a capella after Sept. 11th and finally being deported from the US to the utter shame of our governing, Cat will recieve the honor he deserves. Even though it might not be as significant as the European Man of Peace award that was bestowed upon him, it is a symbol of an idea succeeding. It reminds us that Truth always will prevail. Thank you @catstevens
